Ashe Laughlin’s oil paintings are richly layered, with highly textured surfaces. His shifting, often illusive forms offer physicality through the accumulating paint and the stacking of imagery. The artist writes of his work “My work throws shadows, compelling viewers to study and move around a piece to see how the three dimensional depth and color relationships are made.”
Laughlin is currently a professor of art at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, and a resident of Rapidan in Orange County, where he keeps a studio. He has previously served as a full-time Senior Lecturer of Art at Texas State University in San Marcos, TX and Adjunct Professor of Art at Austin Community College, Austin, TX. His paintings have been exhibited in galleries in Texas, New Jersey, Philadelphia and New York City.

Chroma’s viewing hours are generally 10-4 weekdays, or otherwise by private appointment, by contacting Deborah McLeod at artlab@chromaprojects.com
