Submit to Streetlight

We love submissions. A few details:

We read year-round and typically respond to submissions within three months. Simultaneous submissions are fine, but please notify us immediately if a piece is accepted elsewhere. Please do not submit previously published work. Streetlight will have first digital, print, and podcast publication rights of your submission. After publication, rights then revert to the author, but we request acknowledgment if a work is re-published elsewhere. Submissions cost $3.

POETRY

We seek to publish all types of well-crafted poems which go beyond description, and resonate with rich language, clear images and a voice. Streetlight welcomes work by both emerging and established poets. Send us 3-5 unpublished poems in a single document.

ESSAY/MEMOIR

We currently seek creative essays/memoirs with an emphasis on the interaction of place and one’s personal relationship to it. See examples in most recent issues. We’re looking for strong writing and emotional content.

FICTION

We are looking for short stories that engage us with a strong voice, memorable characters and a clear sense of time and place. We’re open to experimental forms but favor traditional, literary fiction. Please send one story at a time, 2,000 words max.

ART & PHOTOGRAPHY

Streetlight seeks imaginative art submissions—paintings, photography, pen and ink—works that will make viewers take a thoughtful second look. Images must be submitted ready for publication. We reserve the right to crop published images for use in website banners and to promote the magazine. The artist will be credited and retain all copyrights.
